Warning

Worth knowing before you upgrade.
  • 0.162.0The documentation's pictures of getters, operators and knots do not show the type under them yet.
  • 0.162.0Draft 0.1 publishes no conformance fixtures or checker; its Conformance chapter says what is planned.

Added

  • 0.162.0The technical specification, at roswaal.app/technical, in the docs and in the Docs panel, under a heading of its own. Fourteen chapters in three parts: the principles, abstractions, interactions, visual grammar, types, execution, accessibility and file format that hold in every language; how to write a profile for a new language, with Luau for Roblox and Luau for Lune as the first two; and how conformance will be checked and the specification changed.
  • 0.162.0Each page says whether it is Normative, binding an implementation in the words of RFC 2119, or Informative, and that it is Draft 0.1. Nothing in a draft is promised until 1.0.
  • 0.162.0Its tables of numbers are generated from Roswaal's own source as the pages are built: node geometry, the drawing layers, the grid and zoom, the pin families, the theme roles, the built-in library by category, and the connection rule, whose examples are the compiler's own answers.
  • 0.162.0Where Roswaal does not yet do what the specification asks, the page says so beside the requirement: the canvas cannot yet be used from the keyboard or by a screen reader, and pins do not grow for a finger.

Changed

  • 0.162.0Wires and pins describes the pin shapes and type chips, and value nodes as rounder with no header bar. Adding and removing pins, and Coming from Blueprints, describe the controls and flow pins as 0.161 draws them.

Fixed

  • 0.162.0A getter, an operator and a reroute knot show their type underneath, centred, rather than in a chip beside their output, where it cut a getter's name short, covered an operator's symbol and sat on top of a knot's pin.
  • 0.162.0A handler whose body reads its own connection now works. A Body that disconnected its own Connection compiled to local connection = …:Connect(function() connection:Disconnect() end), where the connection inside the function is not yet the local and so is nil. The local is now declared first and assigned by the connect.
